1. I want to go on this mission trip because I want to be able to serve God and help further His kingdom. I've always had a heart for kids, and I feel like God has been calling me to step out of my comfort zone to bring glory to His name. Originally, I didn't feel an urging to go since this summer would have been my first and last "free" summer before college and I wanted to just relax and hang out with friends, but after my mom kept asking me about it, I did start to feel a growing burden for this mission trip. I have previously been on a mission trip to Taiwan with Advent a few years back, and while that was a great first experience, it was more of a "baby" mission trip and I've been wanting more - I feel like this mission trip will be a good opportunity for me to both stabilize my faith before I go off to college and help transform the kids' lives in China. Though I lack in experience and ability, I am more than willing to be used as God's vessel to help glorify His name and serve Him.
2. I'm really hoping that I'll be able to personally experience and witness God's working in the midst of a spiritual battle. I hope to be able to influence the kids we encounter there and to develop personal relationships with them. As I mentioned previously, I would like to deepen my relationship with God and build a more solid foundation in my faith before I leave for college in the fall. Most of all, I want to be able to witness God's power and be a part of this testimony and story that was able to bring about change in China.
